The proper terminology is "mil" as opposed to guage. The lowest quality liner currently manufactured in the U.S. and Canada is 20mil.

When vinyl liner pools are built, nearly all builders intall a 28mil or 30mil liner. For this reason, among others, the original liner should last10-13 years. Replacement liners are usually 20mil and will need to be replaced within 4 to 7 years.

When purchasing a replacement liner, follow these points: (1) Insist on a 28mil liner. (2) The pool must be accurately measured by a professional installer. (not a salesman). (3) Don't believe the story about not making liners heavier than 20mils anymore.

Replacement liner sales organizations do not want to sell 28mil liners for two reasons: a. It takes two installers to carry and install a 28 mil liner and it usually takes 1 1/2 days instead of 1 day. b. It will be much longer before you need a new one. The additional charge for 28mil in 2008 should be about $800.00. Good luck with your pool.

What is thicker 8 gauge or 10 gauge?

8 gauge wire is thicker than 10 gauge wire. In the American wire gauge (AWG) system, lower gauge numbers indicate thicker wire. Therefore, 8 gauge wire has a larger diameter and can carry more current than 10 gauge wire.

Is 8 gauge weld wire fencing stronger than 10 gauge wire?

Yes, 8 gauge wire is thicker and stronger than 10 gauge wire. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the wire is. Therefore, 8 gauge weld wire fencing would be stronger and more durable than 10 gauge wire fencing.
