It usually doesn't have one. Most pumps are controlled by an external switch. Usually a timer in a box near the pump.
Not aware that Hayward made motors. You need the pump seal, gaskets or orings and the tools to remove and reinstall the motor and the seal. The electrical connections and power need to be removed and or turned off at the circuit breaker.
Does it run for a brief period then shut off? Could be a capacitor getting ready to fail. Could be getting hot. Is it tripping the circuit breaker?
To remove the impeller from a Hayward Power-Flo LX pool pump, first turn off the power and disconnect the pump from the electrical supply. Next, remove the pump's front cover by unscrewing the screws, then take out the diffuser to access the impeller. Use a socket wrench to unscrew the impeller by turning it counterclockwise, and be cautious of any debris that may have accumulated. Once removed, inspect the impeller for damage or wear before replacing or cleaning it.
You don't backwash a pump, you backwash sand and D.E. Filters. To clean them you change your valve to the backwash setting. To clean a pump basket you turn off the pump, open the lid and pull the pump basket out, dump the contents and place it back into the pump and replace the cover. You may or may not need to prime the pump before you turn it back on.
GM vehicles do not have a fuel pump shut off switch.
You can tell if your fuel pump shutoff switch is bad, if the fuel pump does not shut off when you flip the switch. You can also tell if the switch is bad by looking at the wire connections.
If you are talking about turning on and off the 1 HP pump you will need to know what voltage the motor is and buy the correct size switch to operate at that voltage.
Check voltage at terminals in motor. 230v- 2 hot legs? Shut off power. Verify shaft turns by rotating by hand. Check continuity to switch contacts and to start capacitor. Short out then test start capacitor. Start switch on motor can have dirty or pitted points. You can file them smooth with a very small file. Verify switch opens completely when centrifugal weight swings by operating it by hand. Are points still stuck together? Do they come back into full contact when switch is let go? Hayward uses AO Smith motors. You didn't mention single or 2 speed, voltage, or symptoms of your problem. I could walk you through any issues with it at all, but alot of it is available on line under 'AO Smith motor troubleshooting'. Good luck.

On when you are running and off when you are not.
It does not have a cut off switch. You will have to remove the fuel pump relay or the fuel pump fuse to shut it off.
