The model 39A had a cast trigger guard and the front screw holds the receiver to the stock. The models 59's all have a stamped trigger guard that is held in place with wood screws. The take-down screw is in front of the trigger guard. The model 59B has a black forend tip.
The Stevens Model 39A was produced between 1939 - 1947.

I can say that the Savage/Stevens No 39 was made from 1938-1945.I cannot say if the model 39A is the same or not.

This is a stevens model 39A. The stevens 59A, B and C all had the takedown screw in front of the trigger guard.
The Model 39A was only manufactured from 1938 to 1945. Value is from $25 for a parts-gun to $150 for one in excellent condition.
OK. The Stevens Model 39A was produced between 1939 - 1947. It was manufactured in 410 guage, with a 5 shot tubular magazine. The 39A is a bolt action shotgun with a 24" barrel and full choke. The barrel is blued and the shotgun has a plain walnut one piece pistol grip stock and forearm. Approximate weight of the gun is 5 1/2 pounds. This is all the information I could come up with.
