I believe that the last Smith and Wesson hammer less model was the stainless model 60 chief,s special that was made in 1998. IT had a 2 1/2in barrel and was double action only.
Provide a full description, including, barrel length, all markings, type of action and overall condition. S&W has been making 38 Spl revolvers for over a century.
The H and R revolvers, produced by Harrington & Richardson, include several models, with the most notable being the H&R Model 922, a .22 caliber revolver, and the H&R Model 929, a .22 caliber double-action revolver. Other models include the H&R Model 676 and Model 738, which are chambered in .38 Special and .357 Magnum, respectively. These revolvers are known for their reliability and affordability, making them popular choices for both target shooting and personal defense. H&R revolvers were manufactured from the early 20th century until the company ceased operations in the mid-1980s.
Revolvers that hold 8 rounds typically include models like the Smith & Wesson Model 627 and the Ruger GP100 in an 8-shot configuration. These revolvers are designed to accommodate more ammunition than the standard 6-round capacity found in most revolvers, making them popular for competitive shooting and personal defense. They generally chamber cartridges like .357 Magnum or .38 Special, providing versatility and firepower.

Impossible to answer since S&W has been making revolvers chambered for .38 Special since before 1900. MANY different models. Please respond with ALL the markings on the revolver, and if you can send digital photos that would be a big help. sales@countrygunsmith.net
The value could be as low as $50, or as high as several hundred, depending on condition and the exact model. S&W has been making handguns for a long time, and there are a hundred different double action revolvers out there. You best route would be to have a gun shop examine what you have.
Have never seen a S&W sniper rifle from 1917. In that period, S&W was making .45 cal revolvers for the war effort. If you have other information, you may contact me through my mesage board, and I'll try to help. Sniper rifles were made at the Springfield Armory, Rock Island, and by Remington.
