A problem the UK faced in WWII was the Battle Of Britan.

Britain's main problem during WWII was facing Germany alone after the defeat of France in 1940.

Britain at the time also had to protect it's vast empire with her colonies in the Middle East and Africa threatened by Italy as well as the Asian colonies that would later be threatened by the Japanese Empire.

Another major problem Britain faced was the Battle of the Atlantic where British merchant vessels were under constant attack by the German Kriegsmarine (U-Boats) in an attempt to force Britain to negotiate peace terms with Germany.

Along with the British Expeditionary Force loosing most of the British armies heavy weapons at Dunkirk and the RAF fighting the Battle of Britain outnumbered 4-1, Britains position was bleak.

However -

1. The RAF managed to turn the tide and win the Battle of Britain.

2. Production of Aircraft in Britain far outnumbered German production.

3. The Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy defeated the German pocket

battleship the Admiral Graf Spee forcing the crew to scuttle the ship in South America.

4. Britain and the empire fought Italy and the Afrika Corps in North Africa tying down several German divisions and most of the Italian Army & Navy.

5. RAF Bomber Command launched raids on German city's bringing the fight to the German homeland. Over 55,000 RAF bomber crew were killed throughout the War.

6. The Royal Navy scuttled and destroyed the FrenchMediterranean Fleet to prevent it falling into German control.

7. Britain invaded Iceland to prevent control of the region by Germany.

8. Enigma and various other advances including depth charges and aircraft assaults on U-Boats helped to win the Battle of the Atlantic.
