women took over the jobs that men were absent from this was the first big breakthrough on womens rights. women were looking after the children cleaning the house shopping and working this is probably why we have the multi tasking genes. womens jobs were working in factorys making ammunition with dangerous machinery that could kill them any time if they made one incorrect move they also took over jobs in offices and had a taste of the independent working women. this is probably why they were so reluctant to let the men have their jobs back after the war because they liked having their own money and timetable this was a great acheivement for womankind well done !!!!

Were women allowed to perform at the theater?

Well that depends on the time you are basing your question on. recently, i have been set a homework to fulfill the question of "what happened during the 17th and 18th century plays?". i have found many things but they all relate back to women. the thing is that women were used as housewives and the men were the only people in theatre. this was until recently when women were used to play female roles except witched and old women. this was carried on and progressed since then. :) Thanks xx (please remember that i am only 12 yrs old) :)
