The term "Old World" typically refers to the regions of Europe, Asia, and Africa, particularly in contrast to the "New World," which encompasses the Americas. The Old World is characterized by its long history of human civilization, including ancient cultures and empires, and it is often associated with the origins of agriculture and major historical developments. This distinction became particularly significant after the Age of Exploration in the 15th century when European explorers began to encounter the Americas.
The earliest civilization in the world was Sumer which goes as far back as 4,900 BC. The Sumer lived in Mesopotamia in an area of present day Iraq.

I am not certain what you mean by continent of the 21st century. Do you mean a power shift? Because the answer is no, Africa is not a powerful continent. The power still mostly remains within the Western World. Although Asia is getting more powerful. Or perhaps you mean the finding of Africa? Africa has been around since the beginning of man and is the cradle of human civilization. It was perhaps the first continent known to man.
