The Allies (United States, Russia, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Italy, and more than 30 other countries) won World War I. They did not win anything in return, only that the two powers (Allies and Central Powers) signed the Treaty of Versailles, stating that Germany would be held fully responsible for the war, Germany had to pay an equivalent to some 30 billion dollars today, and Germany had to demilitarize its armed forces. Also, Poland, Czechslovakia, and other parts of Germany and Austria-Hungary were now split up into their own independent countries. Nothing was won by the Allies except for the pleasure of peace that remained until 1929 until the end of the second deadliest world war.
