It is possible that the revolutionaries in Russia wanted their own place in the history books and chose not to use the term "French" so they had themselves an October Revolution.

Or:

The essentials for a French Revolution were present at that time and place alone. French discontent had numerous sources but was centered on the lack of bread available for consumption by the peasants. The government was inept at dealing with the problem and the peasant had lost hope for a better tomorrow. It became more then complaints and developed at the grass roots to become a genuine Revolution.

Social Commentary and criticism by Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Voltaire have no relevance to illiterate, over worked and hungry laborers. Priestly prayers and platitudes fall on deaf ears when working men and women can find no way to feed their children. The Rights of Man and the Citizen can be published in every city but that broadsheet makes for a very thin cup of soup.

What effect did the French Revolution have on France and the World?

The French Revolution gave the world a different model from the American Revolution. The American Revolution was a giving of rights taken away or an extension of rights. The Bill of Rights in the Constitution simply listed rights that various kings had previously affirmed belonged to all Englishmen. The American Revolution limited the tyranny government could do. The French Revolution on the other hand presented a violent overthrow of the old order. It was not an evolutionary change but a revolutionary change. Many revolutionary groups chose to follow the French style of Revolution. The main one was communism. The politburo was a thinly disguised committee on public safety. It served the same purpose. Stalin was Robespierre. They begin with high sounding rhetoric. It had a dream based on platitudes. It disintegrates into chaos. The dream that a people can live by platitudes keeps appearing and never works. A group takes over the government and becomes terrorist. The impact of the French Revolution has been to destroy the old order. Like the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution and the Chinese Revolution destroyed the old landowning nobility. All revolutions based on the French Revolution do that. Then internal corruption brings the collapse of the revolution. When no other way is seen to exist to get rid of a powerful entrenched nobility, a French revolution may occur. When the task is to prevent a return of tyranny as it was in Germany after World War 2, an American Revolution may occur.

Where did the French revolution of 1789 take place?

It took place in France. The French Revolution was a revolt initiated and carried out by the peasants of France against the aristocrats and clergy of France, which spread throughout the entire country of France and even seeped into other parts of Europe. There were disturbances from 1787 to 1789, and armed conflicts from 1789 to 1799, including the Reign of Terror (1793-1794). France occupied Belgium and the Netherlands following the establishment of the First Republic in 1792. Events in 1789 began with the convocation of the Estates-General in May. The first year of the Revolution witnessed members of the Third Estate proclaiming the Tennis Court Oath in June, the assault on the Bastille in July, the passage of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen in August, and an epic march on Versailles that forced the royal court back to Paris in October. A well-known event mentioned above was the storming of the Bastille - a building that was, at the time, a large prison. Many aristocrats would throw peasants in jail (Bastille being a major one) for no legitimate reason. They had the right to do this because of their royalty.

American response to the French Revolution?

America was torn in response to the French Revolution. On the one hand, it was the French government that funded the Americans in their Revolution against England, but on the other hand, the revolutionaries in France wanted the same rights the Americans just recently fought for, and the Americans believed the deserved the same freedoms they now owned. Therefor, the Americans overall didn't take a side in the Revolution, but helped build the new French government after the Revolution. America has since been a strong ally of France.
