Germany lost WWI because by the time the United States entered the war in 1917, Germany had been fighting a bloody stalemate on the Western front against the British and the French. They had also been fighting the Russians since 1914 and had lost hundreds of thousands of men in 3 years on the eastern front. The Germans were successful in defeating the Tsar and his army which allowed over 1,000,000 combat veterans to be transferrred to the western front before the Americans were trained and ready for offensive operations in 1918. Germany did well at first in the spring offensive in 1918 and attacked the new American army and did well-at first. Eventually, the sheer numbers of an unlimited numbers of fresh American forces, along with the British and French was too much for Germany to defeat. Four years of hell and the loss of over 2.5 million German soldiers, made it clear, they couldn't win the war. The Austro-Hungarian armies never made much of a positive contribution on the German side.

Germany in WWII lost because they totally underestimated the strength of the American and Soviet armies and their unlimited numbers of men and war material that in time, overwhelmed Germany! Hitler thought that American could only build autos not tanks and planes. He also thought he could defeat Stalin before Christmas in 1941. Germany also lost because they lost the Battle of the Atlantic, where their U-Boats by July 1943, were no long a critical threat to Allied convoys-thus million of tons of prescious military supplies and food got to England and the Soviet Union. Another great victory for the Allies, was stategic bombing over Germany and elsewhere that destroyed not only cities and towns in Germany, but destroyed most of the German military facilities, oil refineries, and other key targets. After the success at D-Day in June 1944, it was only a matter of time before Germany would collapse. They were now having to fight at war on 3 fronts: The eastern front, the Italian front, and now France. In addition, Hitler had almost 330,000 soldiers in Norway waiting for an invasion that never came during the war. Germany lost both wars because they didn't have the resources in both men and equipment to defeat the allies.
