There were over 60 million people who were killed or injured in that war. Millions of people fought in that war. So it definitely was a world war and the biggest one and the deadliest one.
It was fought in all major parts of the world, except the poles and the Americas. Europe and the Asia-Pacific were the main areas, but also in Africa.
