i know following cases that we can consider at saying hello? walker should say hello first standing incoming should say hello to people that are inside younger to older but older can say first hello when ever it does not come from being weak in self confidence

to be honest i have no idea.. but seeing as "hello" was around LONG before the telephone i should think that traditionally and most commonly nothing else was used... except when of course people are calling friends not everyone starts with hello.. though most do..
