The red thing on top of a chicken's head is called a comb. It is the primary way for chickens to expel body heat. All of a human's skin helps us expel body heat but for a chicken it is only the comb and the skin of its face that expel the heat.
They lay eggs and both can be used for meat. A chicken though is not a swimming animal while a duck is. Its called a 'swimming bird' while a chicken is a 'scratching bird'.
Chickens are covered in feathers. These help the chicken to keep warm. They also help a chicken to fly, or at least to slow its fall if it happens to be dropped or fall from a height. Chicks have more of a fluffy coating while their feathers have not developed. It functions mainly to keep them warm. Chicks can easily die of cold, hence they are raised in an area with a heat lamp that they can sleep under, and out of any draughts.
The light provides heat. The ideal heat for hatching fertilized eggs is between 99.5F and 100.5F with about a 50% humidity rate. Once the eggs have been collected then it will take about 21 days to hatch the eggs under these conditions. Varied temperatures and drafts on the eggs can slow embryo growth.

In a frying pan.... The trick is the breading. You can use shake n bake, its not bad. But then you will want to bake your nuggets not fry them. 1. Cut chicken into nuggets or strips (I use de-boned breasts) 2. Dip nuggets into raw egg, this helps the breading stick (I beat the egg first to break the yolk) 3. Coat with breading of your choice 4. If frying, use canola or your other favorite oil. Liberally coat a frying pan and heat to high. Make sure you have lid for the pan. 5. Turn heat down to High-Med. Cook chicken until white, usually about 15-20 minutes. Turn frequently. 6. Enjoy
