I have a female Pit that was a pound dog. I have had her for 3 months now and she is believed to be 1.5 to 2.0 years of age. She is a total nightmare around other female dogs. A huge male Pit ( not fixed ) came up to her and she was fine. LOVED him. Female dogs of any breed and she wants to devour them. She's the Queen of the Walk. So I have to keep her on leash at all times. No dog park visits either. I don't dare. She however adores babies and children. Never has bitten any human in my presence, not even a nip. So just like people there are gonna be things Little Miss I'm The Only Cute Girl Dog In Town is just not going to like. Baby steps when introducing your Pit to anything. You never know what will trigger any dog to be aggressive.
mostly any breed are becuz i breed them along with shih tzus Chihuahuas and boxers they all get along great only if you raise them agressivly or they have had a tramatic past they will be mean but other than that preety much any breed but i perfer them to play more with the boxers becuz they play rough like jump on top of them and paw and play bite like a play bite and runn its very funny. They are also good with cats. But you need to raise them around the other animals from an early age.
This topic is very debatable. Personally, I believe that pit bulls are just as sweet as any other dog, as long as they're raised right. Even if you abuse a lab, renowned for their mild temperament, you will get a dog with psychological problems. If you raise a pit in a loving home and it has a good social life (gets to meet and play with other dogs) it will be a good dog. My neighbors have a pit bull, and it sounds viscious but it is the kindest little thing you ever saw, and she loves my two labs (they always chase each other up and down the fenceline). Of course, there are some dogs that are just mean, just as there are people that are mean for some reason. In short, raise a dog right and you will get a nice dog.
If raised well and properly socialized, like any dog, pit bulls can get along well with animals and dogs of all shapes and sizes.
My pit bull girl LOVES her two little rat terrier brothers.
What do you mean 'upside'? All dogs are great, and Pit Bulls can protect you and love you.

Bully breed dogs are dogs that are classified as pit bill type breeds and were originally bred to fight bulls for sport. Not all dogs that have the term "bull" in their breed qualify. Bully breeds include the American pit bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Staffordshire terrier, English bull terrier, miniature bull terrier, and the American bulldog. (The English bulldog is not considered a bully breed.) Bully breeds are all part of the pit bull family, but each breed has unique personalities and temperaments. Bully breeds have gotten a bad reputation because of their aggressive beginnings, but they are great dogs to the right owner.
Pit bulls often refer to breeds of dogs in the Mastiff group of dogs, which are generally larger dogs that are often (historically) used for dog fighting. Other breeds of dogs which are in the same category are the American Pit Bull Terrier, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and the American Staffordshire Terrier. I do know that Pit Bulls derive from cross-breeding's of Mastiffs and American Staffordshire Terriers (look at a pic of Staffordshires and Pit Bulls, they look almost the same!!) and maybe other breeds. Good answer! But, the term "pit bull" refers more to terriers. "Pit Bulls" included the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, and the Staffordshire Terrier. The most common reference to the term "pit bull" refers to the American Pit Bull Terrier, which does not stem from the Mastiff family. The American Pit Bull Terrier more closely stems from a mix of Staffordshire Terrier and Old English Bulldog (not to be confused with American Bulldog.) The American Bulldog is more closely related to the Mastiff family, not the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, or the Staffordshire Terrier.
"Pit Bull" came from dogs that had Bulldog bloodline, that were fought in Pits. Before Dog Fighting, they were used for Bull & Bear Baiting & Ratting. The Bull & Terrier Breeds divided into American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier & Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Before being called APBT- they were called the pit dog, the 1/2 & 1/2, Yankee dog, and more. The Bull & Terrier Breeds came about by mixing the White Terrier w/ Bulldogs, they chose the Terrier for it's High Prey Drive/ Agility & Determination & the Bulldog for the Strength & Endurance to create what we know as the " Pit Bull" Breeds. When Imported to the USA, people in the East Coast still used the dogs for fighting, while Farmers moved West & used them as Farm/ Livestock dogs.
