The term comes from the belief that "only fools and horses work" If one is smart enough they can make a good living without working. ie getting the folk around you to do the work while you reap the rewards. ie working your brains and not your body...

DSLD is a genetic disease as far as anyone can tell and unless the breeding of horses with this condition stops then the disease will continue to spread. Why do horses have tailes?

There are several reasons a horse has a tail. In the wild, horses don't have owners to apply fly spray when the flies bite. The tail makes a great fly swatter. Horses have a good system where they will stand head to tail, (going in opposite directions from each other) and swat the flies off the face of the other. Tails are also used for balance, and as a way to tell the world how he is feeling at any given time. Relaxed tail says the horse is feeling pretty good. A tail that is clamped down or swishing rapidly could mean he is frightened or annoyed. One last word about tails, when brushing the tail its always a good idea to stand at the side by the horse's hip instead of directly behind him. If he kicks you'll be out of harm's way.

How do you treat mud fever?

The most important thing to do is get the horse on dry footing. This condition is caused by the horse standing or mucking through wet footing and not being able to stand on dry land. There are some good topical ointments and medications you can apply to the horses feet and legs that will promote healing and act as a barrier to additional wet conditions.

What does the scripture say about God calling fools?

Scripture does not saying anything about God calling fools. The word 'fools' is mentioned 42 times in the KJV; none of which apply to the 'calling' of fools. Scripture addresses 'fools' and may call individual people fools. That word (fools) is used almost exclusively to describe a negative in a person so it is not suprising that Scripture does not mention that God would "call' fools.
