I think you mean Megatherium. Megatherium was probably wiped out by humans. It was as big as an elephant and walked on the sides of its feet.

America about 23 million years ago. like most other ground sloths when the Americas first connected they moved up north. ground sloths were some of the only fauna that moved to N. America, many of the N.America species moved south though. the giant ground sloth died out or became extinct 10,000 years ago.
