It's always importent to make sure your mare is in heat, or the mare you want to breed to, otherwise the stallion will take no notice and the mare will have to wait at the most, a month, before the stallions teasing gets her into season, after that there are two options, natural breeding, just leave the mare and stallion alone in the paddock for afew days or a week, or you can wait till the mare is in heat and just bring the stallion over, when he smells her scent he will get a erect penis and mount her, therefore, they will breed.
easy look. mares are females. they have an udder and a vagina which is under her butt. a stallion ,male has a penis and testicles which are in between back legs. a gelding is a castrated horse
put them together with no restrains and no food, get them aquainted. make sure that the mare is in heat, and then put them together and hormones will do the rest. some horses will not mate if humans are present, so keep that in mind
Mares that are already cycling (have already gone through transition and have ovulated) can be brought into heat with the use of prostaglandin products to "reduce" a CL and return the mare to heat.
Mares that are not cycling can be exposed to an increased photoperiod to simulate increasing daylight which will bring the mare out of seasonal anestrus, in to transition and in to heat earlier than will happen if the mare is merely exposed to normal day/night length.
How you breed a horse varies somewhat by the breed's regulations and your location.
Some breeds, like the Thoroughbred are only allowed to do 'live cover'. This means you must breed a live mare to a live stallion and it must be witnessed by more than one person.
Live cover can have a few variations:
1. Breeding shed type live cover: Most common in Thoroughbreds, this is where the breeding process is highly coordinated and controlled by the handlers. The stallion will be lead to a mare and allowed to inspect her before mounting and breeding. The mare will have kicking boots and possibly breeding hobbles to keep her from kicking.
2. Field cover: Where a stallion and either one or more mares are turned loose and allowed to breed freely for a certain period of time. This method is the most natural, but potentially dangerous if the mare kicks out and breaks one of the stallions legs.
Artificial insemination (AI) is where a stallion is taught to mount a 'phantom mare' and to ejaculate into a tube called an artificial vagina. The semen is then checked and divided into 'straws' (pipettes) which can then be used to impregnate the chosen mare. The semen can also be used to fertilize an egg which will then be placed inside a recipient mare instead of the mare whom the egg originally belonged to. This is done if the mare is competing, or may not be able to successfully care a fetus to term.
Many breeders use artificial insemination.
The stallion has sexual intercourse with a receptive mare resulting in fertilization of the mare's egg with the usual result being a pregnancy.
You Can NOT do this. Once the testes are removed, they are GONE. Gelding is permanent.

There is no discharge that I know of but a mare in heat will usually urinate when a stallion is presented. When a stallion is present, other signs of a mare in heat are: turning the hindquarters to the stallion, raising the tail, squatting and a flexing or winking of the labia. When a mare is NOT in heat and a stallion is present, she is totally disinterested and will flatten her ears, squeal, kick and sometimes bite and kick at the stallion.
a horses genres are stallion mare and gelding, a stallion is a male ,a mare is a female and a gelding is a stallion that has been neuted, i know this because i have been riding for three years !!!!!!!!!!!!!
An adult horse is either a mare or a stallion. A male adult is a stallion, and a female horse is a mare.
A stallion will mate with as many mare's as are available.
yes
A mate for a mare is a stallion. The foals dad is called the sire which is the stallion....hope i helped!
Wild horses mate in the same way as domestic horses. A mare that is in heat will urinate and present herself to the stallion. The stallion will sniff the urine and then the mare, typically displaying the flehmen response. So long as the mare is receptive the stallion will then mount her and breed with her.
I don't think so, only a mare can mate with a stallion. _ThehorseGal&Advisor
mate a donkey mare with a donkey stallion
a male horse (stallion) sniffs or nuzzles the mare before matting................ if a mare is not ready to mate she will kick and bite the stallion............ so an experienced stallion will approach the side of the mare just in case.
Sure they can! They qualify as animals, and in order to do that, they have to be able to mate. The mule is an exception-its an animal, but it can't mate. Stallion and Mare. If they couldn't mate, how are they still here today?
The feminine form of stallion is mare. Stallions are male horses, while mares are female horses.
A mare comes into season approximately once a month. This is the time when she is willing to breed and able to become pregnant. A Stud or Stallion will always be more than happy to breed her during this time. So yes ... horses can be made to mate.
The female attracts her mate with a smell. She has the smell of estrus when she is looking to mate.
Horses are Polygyny in their breeding style. A stallion will mate with any mare in his harem that is in heat, and will try to steal mares from other stallions. A mare typically only mates with the current band stallion, but may wander off and breed with another available stallion.
