There are at least million wild animals killed in a year
There is no official record of how many animals are euthanized in Louisiana each year. Animals may be euthanized by veterinarians, animal shelter workers, and zoologists. It is estimated that millions of animals are euthanized in the United States each year.
When a dog is euthanized it is put to sleep.

Estimates vary, but on average, around 3-4 million animals are euthanized in shelters in the United States each year, which represents around 50% of the animals that enter shelters. This number has been decreasing over the years as more efforts are made to promote adoption and spaying/neutering.

There are an estimated 3 to 4 million cats and dogs that are euthanized in the UK each year. Sadly, many of these animals are healthy, but unwanted.
Well, techinecly my research shows that there are a lot. :)
The Humane Society of the United States estimates about 3-4 million cats and dogs are euthanized by shelters every year. The statistic is limited by the number of shelters that give such information. A disproportionate number of those 3-4 million are cats. Dividing 3-4 million by 365 (days in a year), and you get 8,200-11,000 dogs/cats per day. This is why people need to understand the importance of having their pets spayed or neutered.

The primary consideration is health of the animal - an animal with severe injuries or disease is more likely to be euthanized for humane reasons. Probably the second most used factor is age - younger animals are more adoptable, so older animals tend to be euthanized faster. Other factors include the reason the animal was given to the shelter - fighting animals, aggressive animals and behavior problem animals are more likely to be euthanized because they aren't safe to adopt out, while animals that were given up because the owner couldn't take the pet with him/her to a new house are much easier to get adopted out. There may also be local ordinances that require certain breeds (usually pit bulls, German shepherds, Doberman pinchers, etc.) to be euthanized rather than adopted, or the facility may have a policy of euthanizing after so many days in the shelter.
It is estimated that there are between 1.5 to 2 million dogs euthanized every year. This would translate to 0.06 dogs euthanized each second.
