I'm not sure whether they shed hair, but when my guinea pig was pregnant, she got bald patches on her belly and, I was told this was normal. Shedding while pregnant does happen sometimes, I'm not sure why, but I've seen it happen and was told that it wasn't a bad sign, it was just the hormones changing and their system having trouble keeping up with the swift changes.
Guinea pigs molt to shed old or damaged hair and replace it with new hair growth. It is a natural process that helps keep their coat healthy and clean. You can assist your guinea pig during molting by providing a balanced diet, proper grooming, and a clean living environment.
If your guinea pig is young, it is normal, since they are born with all of their fur and they would start to lose fur behind their ear as they age. For the past 8 years of having 4 guinea pigs, every single one lost hair from behind their ears as they aged. However, if your guinea pig is elderly, it could have mites and you should take it to the vet. 1-4 months is a good age to reassure yourself that losing ear hair is a normal way of a cavy's (guinea pig's) life.
It is not normal for a cat to lose large clumps of fur regularly. This could be a sign of an underlying health issue such as allergies, parasites, or stress. It's best to consult with a veterinarian to determine the cause and appropriate treatment.
a LOT. it needs more than you would expect. just give it more than you think is enough
My Guinea pig is also losing fur but they shed their fur so they can grow their winter coat. they start sheeding during the summer season (at the end of summer begining of fall). They will keep shedding though, so you do not have to worry about anything its all natural.
