They say Western Pleasure is Western Dressage. As for reining nothing.
Reining is a western riding competition where horse and rider perform a series of intricate patterns that include sliding stops, spins, and circles. It is judged on precision, smoothness, and the willingness of the horse to perform the maneuvers. Reining is often considered the "dressage of western riding."

Answer 1:The classes are jumping, dressage, hunter jumper and racingAnswer 2:There is much more than that! There's English pleasure, show jumping, eventing, cross-country, and you totally left out western events. Western wise there's barrel racing, reining, western pleasure, team penning, cow herding, pole bending, and many more. Then there are also games that you find at events like gymkahanas, like egg and spoon race, musical chairs, and several other fun challenging activities, like when you have to race around and pull a flag out of a barrel, or shoot balloons, etc.Answer 3:Hi, my name's Heather Diana Fox. I'm pretty young but I have been competing in English events in top-circut shows and even regionals. Anyways, I'm here to answer your question. I do English but I know a lot about Western too.In English, there is Jumping, Cross Country, Hunter Under Saddle (I never understood the name...), Dressage, Leg Yielding, Jump-off, Free Styling, and the Horse and Pony Challange. There are a few more but these are the basics. In Western, there is Pole Bending, Cattle Roping, Barrel Racing, Polo, Lassoing, Link Riding (this event is NOT in big circut shows, only in small or minor. Very rare.), and a few more.
Wester riding is less discplined and more free. You can more likely or not tack up your horse and just ride on western without so much training. English is more formal and disciplined. If you want to look fancy riding a horse you usually ride English. Wester is used more in rodeos. western takes just as much disapline and pose as English i know i ride and the saddles and other tack are way different and so are the events
Why not? I am currently switching over from dressage to western on my Dutch Warmblood. It takes time to retrain but it can be done. Just don't let any dressage training go to waste. It is very helpful in any discipline.
when you ride in reining, you do a series of spins and circles. when you ride in reining and do a circle, its a figure 8 type pattern, although you do about 3 circles on the right and 3 on the left, its still a figure 8 in the end. you can also compare reining to figure skating, its very similar. i know this because i compete in reining.

It could be said that dressage is better than western riding because dressage emphasizes balance and communication of horse and rider. It is in fact very similar to the western sport of reining, which requires the horse and rider to ride a pattern before a judge in the same way dressage does. The movements required for reining are slightly different from those of dressage, but the idea behind the two sports is the same.
