If you want pet chickens get them as babies, they will be tamer when the grow up and they will let you hold them. yes they can live in the same pen however if you are going to try to breed them i would suggest not. No silky can not live with other chickens especially with a roster i know this because when i put my silkies in with my Colombians they almost killed each other and then the hens were not as friendly as they were when they were separated they were very tatorial after i put them together till this day they still try to fight through the been so i wouldn't try it on less your standing right there.
