India and other neighboring countries have put a ban on hunting elephants for their tusks. Also, the sale of Ivory (elephant tusk) is a crime in most nations. Since ivory is the main reason why elephants were killed in thousands, the ban on ivory sale has actually helped reduce the number of poaching incidents in Africa and India. Still there is illegal sale of ivory in the black market and law enforcement authorities around the globe are trying to catch such criminals to help the elephants.

African elephants face extinction in the wild because of poaching and habitat loss. The largest land mammal, elephants reproduce slowly compounding the problem. You can help save African elephants in both small and large ways. Whether you travel to Africa to help out or find ways of helping locally, you can make a difference.
Yes, they are becoming extinctIn 1989, the UN created a plan to help save elephants from becoming extinct. The plan made it illegal to trade ivory from elephant tusks. At the peak of trading, more than 70,000 elephants were being killed every year for their tusks. But after the plan was created, no one could kill elephants or sell their tusks. But now, elephants might be in danger once again. Starting in May 2004, it will be legal to sell ivory. There will be strict controls to monitor where the ivory comes from, but environmental groups worry that increased demand for ivory could mean more elephants will be killed. The current African elephant population is thought to be about 450,000.The governments of several African countries want to begin the legal ivory trade again to help their countries' economies. Ivory is very valuable in trade. But the new ivory trade could be very dangerous for elephants. Their tusks are made of ivory. Hunters sometimes kill elephants just to take their tusks. The wildlife groups will have to work extra hard to make sure elephants don't become extinct.
I think the most important thing is that we should give the elephants a suitable environment.(like an elephant farm) If we couldn't do that, at least we should not occupy their living place.to give them enough space to live. Also we need to arrange some organization, to protect elephants and prevent poacher to kill the elephant for ivory, meat and tucks.
Elephants have four large flat molars in their mouth, each weighing about 10 pounds. In its lifetime an elephants will get six sets of teeth. With four teeth in each set, an elephant will get 24 teeth in total, not including its two tusks which are incisor teeth.

Well yes!! Because if someone has adopted an elephant, no one can harm it!
stop hunting them
To save these elephants we can start by telling people how import these animal's are to the food Chane and with out them our plant will lose a lot of our animal's. If that does not work we should make hunting elephant illegal for everyone.
