I have found, the best bedding to use is sawdust. I have tried a few different types of bedding but none of them has been as good as sawdust. However, don't get the cheap dusty stuff, make sure that you go to a pet shop and get the specialised stuff, which is free of toxins, nails and is low on dust.
No, it is not recommended to use pine bedding for guinea pigs. Pine shavings contain aromatic oils that can be harmful to guinea pigs and may cause respiratory issues. It is best to use paper-based or aspen bedding for their living environment.
Use it as their bedding, but there's nothing to stop them eating it if they want.
