Why does your lobster tail smell like fish?

Actually, when fish are caught fresh from the water they do not have the 'fishy' smell we often associate with seafood. The fishy smell comes from bacteria that start acting on the flesh of the fish soon after it is caught. When we experience the same fishy smell on ourselves, it's usually around a females genital area because there may be an overgrowth of many of the same type bacteria that like a moist environment, like the fish. Men that have not been circumcised and do not retract the foreskin to clean it daily (which is recommended) also end up with the same fishy smell. In most cases a good diet and exercise keeps your immune system strong and fights off much of this bacterial growth, plus basic hygiene like washing with soap and water often helps too. For women, if the odor becomes very strong, it would be a good idea to get checked by your doctor because is may be a sign of a more serious infestation and that could lead to reproductive problems.

How do you control fish odor syndrome?

Background: Trimethylaminuria (fish-odor syn- drome) is a rare metabolic disorder characterized by a body malodor similar to that of decaying fish. The con- dition results from mutations affecting the flavin- containing monooxygenase 3 (FMO3) gene. Affected in- dividuals may exhibit a variety of psychosocial phenomena. A high index of suspicion for this disorder needs to be maintained when treating individuals pre- senting with a history of real or perceived body odor. Observation: We evaluated a 41-year-old man who pre- sented with a long medical history of a fishy body odor. Results from biochemical investigations confirmed a di- agnosis of primary trimethylaminuria, and results of mo- lecular genetic studies revealed homozygosity for a mu- tation on exon 4 of the FMO3 gene, FMO3/P153L (c.458C → T). The patient found that information he sub- sequently obtained about his condition on the Internet and discussion with friends and family members to be the most useful therapeutic approach. Conclusions: Trimethylaminuria is a rare metabolic dis- order. Psychological accompaniments are recognized as major sources of distress to affected individuals. We dis- cuss the features of this syndrome and highlight the im- portance of counseling and support in the treatment of such patients. Arch Dermatol. 2007;143:81-84

Why do portobello mushrooms smell like fish?

Most people do not think that portobello mushrooms smell like fish. It may be that your mushrooms were cooked in oil that was previously used for fish, or were stored in a refrigerator or container that retained a fishy odor. Another reason could be that the portobello mushrooms that you used were old and had been stored in a plastic bag. When mushrooms get older they can release amines which are what makes up a fishy odor.

Why is lemon used to garnish fish?

the answer is not to neutralize the odor - fresh fish should not have any fishy odor. The reason should be for flavor!Decomposing fish is what causes an odor. Muscle in fish contains a chemical substance called trimethylamine oxide (TMAO) that breaks down when fish decomposes creating aromatic amines called trimethylamine and dimethylamine. The amines create a "fishy" smell....and by the way Tango loves smelly sardines!

What would cause a fishy smell coming from the car?

Two Fish ^ l l ...No. Most likely something to do with your coolant (antifreeze). Old coolant may take on a fishy odor; there is also the possibility that coolant is being burned somehow. In any case, a flush and refill of your engine's coolant couldn't hurt.
