Brown feathered hens lay both white and brown eggs as do white hens. Feather color is not an indicator of egg color, breed determines the color of the egg.

The color of the egg has nothing to do with the contents of the egg. White eggs are and have been popular with the home consumer because they give the impression of clean and pure. Brown eggs are most popular with restaurants as it is easier to spot and remove a small piece of brown shell from a large batch of eggs in a recipe.
