I have never heard of this. Perhaps you mean LEO the Lion of MGM fame.
The above answer is "partly" correct. There were really five different lions used by MGM over the years. The first was originally named "Slats" and was born in the Zoo in Dublin Ireland in 1919. He was brought to Hollywood and trained to growl on cue by the animal trainer named Volney Phifer. Slats was taken on tour at various times under the name "Leo", by MGM to promote films. Slats was later sold to the Zoo in Memphis, Tennesee where he was renamed "Volney" in honor of his trainer. The lion died in Mmephis in 1944. There were four other lions used for later MGM films Logos.
A lion
thats what adam named it lol :)
A young lion is named a cub.
No, none of the five lions used to the logo attacked their trainers. In fact the lion accused of the deed is stated to be the original lion Slats but is in fact the fifth lion Leo. And Leo was trained using the then new technique of "affection training" which used love, understanding and respect rather than the norm of guns, whips and chairs.
Yes, because a baby lion is named a cub
The lion that roars in the MGM logo is named Volney.

Depends on which MGM lion you are referring to. There have been 5 all in all. The present day one. which I am fairly sure you refer to, was named Leo and he is buried in New Jersey. The one you see roaring at te start of Tom and Jerry and much more is named Volney

One person made a video of the MGM lion doing that once. One person also said that the MGM lion isn't roaring, it was more like "I'm in the mood. Have food and conflict and don't bother me." Noise.
