An asteroid was hurtling towards Earth. It was a mile in width. When it hit, it was a massive mushroom explosion, causing a rippling shock wave to shake the whole Earth. It was composed of blazing hot gas and fireballs, scorching and catching anything in its path. Then a series of massive earthquakes followed, well above anything on the Richter scale. Tsunamis struck, great hulking mountains of water over 100 metres high! The big lumbering dinosaurs could not hide like the smaller amphibians, reptiles and mammals, and thus many perished amid the chaos. Finally, all the dust from the impact rose to the air and blotted out the sun. For mammals, this was ok, because they ate insects, but plants died, so their dinosaur herbivores died out, and so consequently the carnivorous dinosaurs were felled. These mighty beasts, whom had walked the Earth for so long. Killed in one single stroke from a celestial body, to make way for seemingly insignificant, tiny creatures that carved the path of life as we know it. Without them, we would not be here today.
Scientists believe the place of impact of the asteroid was a place off the Gulf of Mexico, dormant and unwaking in the seabed, until now.
A species that has entirely died out is considered extinct. An example of extinct species are the dodo, saber-tooth tigers, woolly mammoths, Canary Island giant rats, Cape lion, and the Red Rail.
It is estimated that out of all species that have ever lived, almost 99.9% of all species have gone extinct. No species will ever live forever, they will go extinct one time or another no matter what.
Animals that are extinct from the earth are animals that used to live on the earth but are all dead now. Endangered animals are almost extinct.
Extinction. When a species fails to adapt, it dies out.
There are extinct species of animals on all 7 continents. Examples include the woolly mammoth in North America, the dodo bird in Africa, the Tasmanian tiger in Australia, the Great Auk in Europe, the Steller's sea cow in Asia, the Falkland Islands wolf in South America, and the moa in Antarctica.
just about every one. 90% of all creatures that have lived on earth are extinct.

Extinct is when an animal or plant doesn't exist any longer on earth.

The species is said to be extinct.
It is estimated that 99% of all animals that have ever lived are now extinct.

Organisms such as dinosaurs, dodo birds, and woolly mammoths are extinct and will not reappear on Earth. However, it is possible that through cloning or other advanced technologies, we may be able to bring back some extinct species in the future.
The answer is Extinct!
The answer is Extinct!
The exact answer is not known. We do know that it is over 99%.
The exact answer is always changing, and there are probably twice as many species out there than we have discovered. The Environmental Literacy Council site estimates between 5 and 30 million species on Earth today (over 99% of all species that have ever lived are extinct).
