Yes they do, matter of fact.I think it depends on the species. I have White-footed Ants (Technomyrmex albipes) that come to live in my kitchen every winter and they, unlike the Argentine Ant, certainly appear to enter a dormant state very like sleep. In the morning one finds little groups of them on the countertop or, more often, under the breadboard or a plate, or in the waterjug (they have a great affinity for water) -- all still and apparently sleeping. One has to nudge them or tap sharply near them before they all come to life and run around in a bit of a panic. So yes, I would say that some ants sleep.
Tiny specks/grains of dirt can be moved by an ant. They work hours a day and during the night. They hardly sleep just to work on their home. They use specially made jaws that can clench shut on a grain or sand, rock or dirt, come to the surface, and drop it there.
It has been roughly estimated to be very close to the same amount of biomass as the entire global human population. That is a lot of ants, and judging by their complex social societies of many of ant species, a run for our money for the top social organisms on this planet.

There are several ways to blow up a cars engine. If your car loses all its oil and you don't shut off the engine you could blow it. You could blow it by over revving the engine for long periods of time. If the engine doesn't have water in it it could run hot and quit.
