This is a question I would not usually answer. LOL
My family just came back from the east coast and did a tour where they showed us the Herring traps they use to gather scales for cosmetics. The fish are not harmed, they go through a pump system on the boat that loosens scales (they regrow them) and then they release the herring back to the ocean.
The scales are used for glossy and sparkled lipstick and nail polish as they have substance called Pearl Essence.
No, I don't belive so, but just to make sure you could Call maybeline and ask them if the store dont answer call the headquarters
Most chap sticks do contain fish scales. Ones without color dyes or lip tint infused should not contain them
First of all, do NOT lick your lips! They will just become chapped. The method I use is: Mix olive oil and sugar until it forms a gritty paste (You could put this in a tub), then every night before you go to bed, scrub it onto your lips with your fingers. You could also use it on a soft bristled toothbrush and gently rub your lips. After doing this apply vaseline or a moisturising lip balm. When I wake up I apply the lip balm/vaseline then apply lip gloss/lip stick. I carry a little pot round with me and if my lips are feeling dry in the day I re-apply the vaseline. Hope this helps! -x-

Lip gloss is made out of neither. It's acctually made out of jobala oil which comes from the jobala plant not fish scales or whale sperm. However it used to be made out of oil (blubber) from the sperm whale's head. But they didn't use whale sperm.
