Maybe it doesn't like the food or might not be hungry.
If you change the food and it still won't eat, maybe take it to the vets to see if he is ok. Hope it helps.
Btw, my guinea pig won't eat either. I'm going to change the food soon and see if that helps.
YES! It can choke on the sponge very easily. Also, a store-bought sponge is made of plastic. If if gets into a guinea pig's stomach, it might vomit and have diarrhea. Bring to your vet immediately.
Possibly, as guinea pigs can choke easily on nuts. I'm not sure if acorns are poisonous to them or not, but they are definitely NOT supposed to be in their diet. Do not feed your guinea pig an acorn.
If your guinea pig was able to swallow the cherry pit and not choke, watch him closely for a day or two. If he loses his appetite or you notice he has trouble pooping, call the vet.

Just keep a bowl of store bought guinea pig food in your guinea pig's cage and if it gets hungry it can eat out of that. And also you can feed your guinea pig fruits and veggies every now and then. I do the same with my guinea pig, but she seems to have a problem with eating fruits and veggies. :(
take it to the vet immediatley!
If your guinea pig had diarrea once, then check what it has been eating. maby he/she eat some fruits that a guinea pig can not eat. If you can't find out why this has happend, the best thing to do is to take your guinea pig to the vet. Our vet will tell you why this is happening and treat it.
Could work the other way around as well... the Mastiff could choke on the guinea pig !!! --------------- It may, my English Mastiff barked in my baby guinea pig's face and he was very surprized, but nothing happened to him. I suggest you get a book on guinea pigs for more info.
