Yes. If the standard size rooster can catch the faster bantam hen they can successfully breed. In many cases the larger rooster can straddle the smaller hen rather than stand on her back for cloaca contact.

Yes. Bantam breeds of all kinds are known to be quite feisty and gregarious. Roosters can be very aggressive both with their own flock and with humans who come in contact with them. In bantam breeds the dominant cockerel will often not allow submission but they will continue to attack until the submissive cockerel is fatally injured.

Cockerels will start to jump and play fight at about 4 weeks old, sometimes before that. The males are much more aggressive than the pullets. They run and jump for no apparent reason, they also bully the others by pushing and shoving.

Not under normal conditions. Unless you keep them in cramped cages or some other cruel confinement, they will go their separate ways and each defend the territory they pick to for their own. In any case the Drake will be the boss and the rooster will respect that. They both need free range conditions to be healthy happy birds. If chickens and ducks are kept together in the same run, which is not a healthy situation for chickens, as ducks make a wet mess out of their area and require some type of pool with water, they can get along, but it is a bad and UNhealthy situation to keep them in the same confinement. These breeds should always be kept in separate conditions as each has different requirements.

Is 4 roosters too many for 6 hens?

Better to say 4 roosters is too many for 4 roosters. The 6 hens can wait a bit and soon there will be one rooster a-go-go, one in the hereafter, one running away, and one squating on the ground. The hens could deal with 6 roosters, but the big boy a go-go won't stand for more than him with his flock. actually 1 rooster needs 5 hens to be satisfied other wise roosters will fight One rooster will service (fertilize the eggs of) up to 6 hens. If you have more than 6 hens, you will need another rooster. 4 roosters on 6 hens is not good. The roosters will fight and the hens will be exhausted running from all the roosters.

Is it unhealthy for two roosters to live side by side where they can see each other but live alone so that they won't fight and how do you make roosters stop fighting?

Make Roosters Stop FightingIf you let them run in the yard, they will fight it out until they figure out who the strongest rooster is. After that, they will keep their space and mioght fight every so often, but it will not be very serious. Keeping them close to each other where they can see each other but not fight may actuly increase their hostility toward each other.Trying to stop roosters from fighting is like trying to stop them from crowing. It can not really be done. The kindest thing is to rehome one of the roosters to someone with a group of hens so he can have his own territoryhey...i have been breeding chickens for years now and i find that a fare bit of friction between roosters depends on breeds and circumstances. i used to have two roosters...they hated each other from the moment they saw each other. while another two figured out the pecking order and got along perfectly...in the same pen...with shared hens. i currently have three roosters...they grew up together and are inseparable. so it can be done but it cannot be forced. there is nothing you can do, just keep an eye on them and see how they get on. PoultryTalk's Answer:I raise gamefowl and you cant stop them from fighting, its in their instinct even though people lie and say it isn't. Dont believe me, get a few young baby chicks and raise em on the yard. Do whatever you want and they will still fight. Laying type chickens are easier to keep together. But still on occasion will fight.

What do you call a boy bird?

It depends on what sort of bird you are talking about - for example, boy chickens are called roosters or cocks. Boy ducks are called drakes. Many wild birds do not have separate names for male and female - you would just say a male cardinal or a male seagull.

Do you separate boy chickens?

Yes. As cockerels (As Male Chickens Younger than a year are referred to) grow into Roosters they begin to become sexually mature. Roosters, if not seperated when they are fully grown will begin to fight. The reason the Roosters fight is because they want to become top of the pecking order (you can research this more if you wish) but mainly want to become the leader of the flock so they have all rights to the hens. Any other Male is considered an 'intruder' wanting to battle over the rights of owning the flock. If two Roosters are placed together they will fight and often to the death. This is why you must separate Male Chickens to ensure they don't fight and become aggressive.
