To be brutally honest if you cannot afford to take the horse to a vet you should not have the horse to begin with. Horses are not cheap animals to take care of. That being said it could be any number of things making the horse sick and a equine veterinarian will be your best bet to find the root cause of it. It could be something as simple as intestinal parasites, or as bad as a fatal illness. Nobody on here will be able to completely answer this without seeing your horse up close and personal. Please contact a equine veterinarian as quickly as possible.
