Hi
I think they will probably fit but you should measure the length and height of both to be 100 percent sure.. I have a 83 C10 and took fenders off an 86 silverado truck and they fit fine. On both fenders there were at least 3 or 4 shims to hold it in place at all points so there is some "wiggle" room to get it matching right. From what I have seen, these trucks had very similar body parts starting from 1973 up to and including the 1987. Chev did make minor changes in style to the 1981 models and you will find the 81-87 trucks have very similar looks (front grill and lights and fenders. Where as the older 73-1980 were similar in those ways too. The only real noticeable differences I think you might find on the front outer fenders are the marker/signal lights. 81-87 are horizontal where the 73-80 are vertical. I think there should be enough extra wire to flip your 86 truck lights the 90 degrees to fit the 78 fender.
In all, The bodies styles are very similar but there may be a small variance between them so just have a good look at both. But the parts should bolt on and fit. The only issue is that if this truck is your "baby" you may want to swap both fenders to make it the fenders match better. But there would be no safety difference if shes just a work truck and pretty don;t matter.
hope that helps
Joe
No they will not, Different body style
www.LMCtruck.com
It has 4 on the cab ONLY. Now if the fenders and front end / Dog house are still bolted to the cab then there will be 2 more up front. 1 on each side of the radiator.
