The head gasket itself isn't actually expensive. The labour of taking the head off and back on is the expensive. For example when I did my car it was £60 for the gasket and if I was to go to a garage they would of charged £200 labour.
hi there i belive its just the head that needs reskimming cost about £60 in the UK
anywhere between 20-60 depending on material
30 hours
They only make 1 size head gasket. It don't matter if it is 10 20 30 40 or 60 over the factory head gasket will fit with no PROBLEM.
Its eather a head gasket or a cracked head if your doing it yourself when you get the head off to change the head gasket take the head to a machine shop to have it checked if im not mistaken you can take it to napa and they'll check it for you for about 60 bucks.
Bad head gasket or cylinder head. Suggest to check air compressor before working on the head.
I had the same problem it was a blown head gasket and time belt needs replacement after 60-70 thousand miles I had the same problem it was a blown head gasket and time belt needs replacement after 60-70 thousand miles
Let's see...cracked head, cracked head gasket, cracked intake gasket, bad cylinder liner or cracked block, air compressor head gasket...if this was a Cat 3116 I'd also look at the oil cooler or an injector sleeve, but it's not so that's probably not it.
For me it is. The person doing the repair has to take the engine more than 60% apart to repair it. It is likely that the cylinder head will need to be sent to a machine shop for repair. To do the head gasket on my car takes about $800 labour and $450 in gaskets plus any machine work.
Plan on $2000 at a reputable repair shop -- could be as low as $1200 if you know someone...
Only until the exhaust system has burned out the contaminates that was there before the job started, I would say aprox 30 to 60 minutes. If it continues longer than that I would suspect the gasket was installed improperly or the head is cracked.
