Romania is famous for various inventions including the Jet Engine, Insulin etc. In most histories the jet engine was invented by Sir Frank Whittle in England, certainly he was the prime mover of its development as a practical aircraft engine. Transylvania within Romania was the setting for Dracula, that's certainly famous.
He is the national hero of Romania, & is credited with saving their country from the ancient Turks who tried to conquer their land. He did not get a bad reputation in the West, until Bram Stoker wrote a novel about a vampire, & called it 'Dracula.'
