No, President Obama may not wish to do such a thing and Congress would never let such legislation pass as it is unconstitutional. Even if he used executive action, the American public would never comply with this.

∙ 7y agoNo President has the authority to make laws. That is the job of the Congress. The supreme law of the land is the US Constitution, which says people have a right to be armed. Bottom line- neither President Obama nor any other President has the authority to ban guns in the US. And what does the carnage in Nice France caused by driving a large truck over a crowd of people have to do with guns in the US?
