It varies in each state but you should assume the answer is "yes" until you determine otherwise.

Generally, you are considered in possession of the gun if you can access it from the driver's seat. Most jurisdictions define transporting a firearm as having it in a closed case in the trunk of a car or the rearmost compartment of a van or SUV. Laws differ on whether the ammunition can be stored with it, but to be on the safe side you should have it in a separate container.

Whether the car is parked or not usually has no bearing on this.

You live in Co you own a handgun you are not 21 Is it legal for you to transport your handgun in your vehicle when you take it to go shoot as long as it is unloaded?

If the firearm is unloaded, in a case, and locked in the trunk or toolbox of a pickup, yes, should be legal. There is a Federal law known as Peaceable Journey that covers this. If you do not have a trunk or toolbox, then unloaded, and in a locked case (not the glove box).

Interstate transportation of firearms?

Is addressed in a Federal Law known as the Peaceable Journey Law. If it is legal to possess that gun at your place of origin, AND at your final destination, you may legally transport it- UNLOADED, CASED, and secured somewhere other than the passenger compartment (trunk). For vehicles without a trunk, the gun- UNLOADED- may be in a locked container (not the glove compartment of your car- a locked case, please!) This law provides that is will supersede any state law that would address this. However, New York City apparently did not get the word, and is still attempting to arrest travelers that are in compliance with this law. Thus I avoid NYC.

State when do you have to have your gun in a case do you have to have riffles in the bed of your truck in a case?

Not sure of your question- but I think it is to do with legal transport of a firearm. While laws vary from state to state, there is one law- known as the Peaceable Journey Act, that covers this. This is 18 US Code 926A. It provides that you may lawfully transport an unloaded firearm from one place where it is legal, to another place where it is legal, and overrides state law. In the case of a truck with no trunk, you can place the unloaded gun in a locked case inside the passenger compartment. Below is a cut & paste of the Federal law:§ 926A. Interstate transportation of firearmsNotwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.

Can I have a pistol in my glove box locked and not disclose it to law enforcement in the US or(kansas)?

No. Whether the glove compartment is locked or not, that is a concealed weapon within reach, and it requires you to possess a concealed carry permit either from that state or from a state with which reciprocity exists, and you have an obligation to disclose, always. Even if you're in a state in which a secured (secured meaning, locking system such as a trigger lock or cable lock on an unloaded firearm itself) firearm isn't considered a concealed firearm, the obligation to disclose still exists.

If you carry a pistol in a glove box in South Carolina does it have to be locked?

If you do not possess a licence to carry a concealed handgun, then any handgun you carry in your vehicle which is within reach and not in plain sight must be unloaded and secured. This means cable lock, trigger lock, locked case.. something of that sort.
