I have a 2001 sporster. I usually shift at or alittle above 3000 rpm. Any thing lower puts my rpm at or under 2000 in the next higher gear, which makes my engine labor. I use my tac to shift and have never noticed the mph.
You can't shift gears on an automatic transmission because, as it is called, it's automatic! You don't need to shift, it does it for you. == == Maybe the question should be "Why is my automatic transmission not shifting through gears for me as it should?" You should check for codes first. it is an electronic transmission and changes gears based on information received from various sensors. If the throttle position sensor is bad, it will not shift gears correctly. mine wouldn't shift into second until 30 mph and wouldn't shift into 3rd until 55 mph.
