There are a couple of things to consider... 1. Children under 1 yr of age are more subseptable to develope Allergies when introduced to certain foods to early. Strawberries are just one of the more likely foods to develope food allergies. 2. All children are different, but up until 4-6 months of age their digestive system is not developed enough to handle any kind of foods other then formula or breast milk. Strawberries and citrus fruits are exremely hard on their sensative tummies and will make a very irritable baby as they work out the natural acids in these fruits.
Because they have no teeth to eat them but if they do have teeth it is to sweet for them and it will affect there tummy as they can't take the sweetness and because they can have a allergic reaction to it.
My niece is 13 months old and she will eat the softer ones along with applesauce and oatmeal. Make sure the child is weaned before you try to give her strawberries or other solid foods. Hope this answers your question
