ive run into this a few times every time it turned out to be the crank sensor. usually coolant drips on it from a leaky water pump and ruins it.

If the check engine light is flashing the engine is misfiring. Most likely a bad ignition coil.
Passenger side of engine above the compressor.
above the starter
Right hand end (as you're facing the engine) of the engine block, above the distributor.

Next time an engine size would be helpful :-) 2.4L engine = 5.3L 2.7L engine = 5.1L 3.4L engine = 5.2L - 5.4L Above includes changing the filter
The 2006 Toyota coolant temperature sensor is located on the front of the engine. The coolant temperature sensor will be a few inches above the thermostat housing.

its on the front of engine just above aux.shaft easy to get to but you have to raise the vehicle saftly and get under it to see it
Never mind - I found it. It is on the bottom of the dash above the gas pedal.
The second spark plug is misfiring. Could be the coil right above the spark plug.
