If your battery was dead and you jumped it to get it started and the gauge shows your not charging you need to replace the alternator.

Could be, the engine is seized, the starter is bad, dirty or loose battery connections, battery in vehicle being jumped is stone dead.

I had the same thing happen. The battery cable came off the battery in my case, loose connection.
Your battery was dead so you jumped the battery off and when you started it now your gauges dont work only the digital part whats wrong?
have you checked the battery output? it should show right at 13.4 volts, if not, check your alternator output.

I'd suspect the alternator. The vehicle can run off a minimal battery charge, but if the alternator has failed the battery will eventually discharge. Understand that a battery is simply an electrical energy STORAGE DEVICE. The battery is there so that the engine can be started, but once the engine is running the alternator is supposed to re-charge the battery, replacing the electrical energy that was used to start the engine. BTW, automotive batteries are not designed for "deep cycle discharge", and you should try to avoid that if possible.
