Some times there are no symptoms. Some times they may lose weight or appetite. Other times you will see parts of worms or whole worms in the dog's stool.
If you suspect worms at all, or aren't otherwise giving the dog regular medicine for heartworms or other worm infections, take your dog to the vet for an exam and deworming.
Dogs should be dewormed routinely if you live in an area prone to worm infections and/or have children.
Also, almost all dogs should be given a regular flea and heartworm medication (usually monthly).
Roundworms are one of the most common parasites with which your cat may come in contact. They are two to four inches long, are usually a milky white or tan color and have tapered ends. Your cat passes them either through vomiting or in his or her stool, and they look like spaghetti.
In kittens, the presence of roundworms will cause the animal to have a pot-bellied look and constantly feel hungry. In adult felines, the animal will vomit, have chronic diarrhea and will not be as active as he or she had been. It is important to note that roundworms can be transmitted to humans.
It is possible, but not particularly common. Roundworms have evolved to live in cats and, since cats are the worm's definitive host, the worm has a biological imperative to not kill the cat (this would limit the worm's reproductive life). However, a very severe infestation or a cat with complicating health issues could die of roundworms.
There may be a loss of weight. The most obvious sign is small white worms coming out of the rectum of the cat.
The nervous system of a roundworm is very simple. Ventral and dorsal nerve cords run through the roundworm's entire body. These cords come from the nervous tissue ring around its pharynx.
a roundworm
It depends on how the cat is dying. If the cat is in pain, they could be meowing a lot, making noises a lot. If the cat is sick but you didn't know because the cat may not know itself, the cat could die silently.
