King David reigned for 40 years. I Kings 2:11 - David reigned for seven years in Hebron, and then thirty-three years in Jerusalem between the years of around 1000 and the 970's BC.

He is thought to have been contemporary with the pharaoh Siamun and Ahirom king of Tyre/Byblos.

This has been confirmed by most Biblical scholars and certain fragments of Aramic documents support this. Thus we see a reign in total by King David from the 1000 BC to 970 BC dates as stated above.
