∙ 10y agoclearly causes problems when it occurs. Police respond to situations which require good decision making under stress and often have to make life or death decisions very quickly. Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs (or being dependent on them outside of work hours) can have long term effects on judgment, reactions, etc.
Not to mention that most police officers drive for most of their work day...
