It caN DO , PROVIDING THERE ARE NO OTHER ELEMENTS, EXCEPT HYDROGEN PRESENT.

A hydrocarbon is any organic compound that contains carbon and hydrogen ONLY.

So CH3-CH=CH-CH3 But-2-ene is a hydrocarbon.

Similarly

CH2=CH-CH2-CH3 Biut-1-ene is also a hydrocarbon.

However, Butanol (CH3CH2CH2CH2OH) is NOT a hydrocarbon because it contains an oxygen atom .

What is the difference between saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons?

A saturated hydrocarbon is one where all the carbon atoms are bonded to four other atoms. An unsaturated hydrocarbon is one where some of the carbon atoms aren't (an example being an alkene due to the carbon carbon double bond).
