Famous geographical places in New York State would include such places as Niagara Falls, Lake George & the finger lakes region. Politically it would include the city of Kingston, which was the original capitol of NYS, before Albany became the capital. Using "famous" as the criteria, I'd include the campus of Cornell University and the campus of Syracuse University. Syracuse is also famous for the Carrier Dome where Syracuse's football & basketball teams play. Moving south to New York City, the number of famous places are in my opinion numerous. To name a few, I'd include the Empire State Building, The 9/11 Memorial, the George Washington Bridge and Fraunces Tavern where George Washington said goodbye to his troops, the Treasury Building where Washington was sworn in as US President and the New York Stock Exchange. In addition, there is the Statue of Liberty, The Brooklyn Bridge, Grants Tomb. and the house where US President Teddy Roosevelt was born.
