****CHARACTERISTICS OF GRAM POSITIVE AND GRAM NEGATIVE****

GRAM POSITIVE BACTERIA:

1. A very thick cell wall of peptidoglycan

2. If a flagellum is present it contain two rings for support

3. Teichoic acid are present

4. Lipopolysaccharide is absent

5. Do not sensitive to penicillin

6. Digested by lysozyme

7. protein content 0 %

8. lipid and lipoprotein content 0-3 %

9. Gram positive bacteria stain purple.

GRAM NEGATIVE BACTERIA:

1. A very thin layer of peptidoglycan

2. Teichoic acid are absent

3. Lipopolysaccharide is present (outside the polysacchride)

4. Weakly sensitive to penicillin

5. Weakly Digested by lysozyme

6. protein content 9%

7. lipid and lipoprotein content 58% 8. Gram negative bacteria stain pink.
