This led to increased volatility in many Third World Conflicts such as the Korean War and the Angolan Civil War among others. The Soviet Union provided financial assistance to the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War (where American troops also saw action). In return, the American supported the Mujahiddin in Afghanistan when the Soviets invaded that country.
