How do I use the built in webcam on my Acer Aspire 5551?

You need to use an application that makes use of the webcam. There should be an application bundled on the desktop that you can use to record from it, and many Flash games can also use a webcam.

At the top of your desktop (the main screen of your computer) you'll find a large blue button with a downwards pointing green arrow. Left click that button and a new menu containing a few options will roll down. Then left click on the sharing button (The one with two red wineglasses toasting) and the blue light next to your webcam will come on. In a few seconds, a window will open with your webcam image in it.

Now that the built in webcam is on, and working; it will appear as an option when a service or asks you to use a webcam. Services like Skype often use webcams to operate. If you cant see the option for your webcam (it will be called USB 2.0 0.3m UVC WebCam or something like that) in the list the service will present you with, then make sure that your webcam is on (the blue light is on near the camera lense when the camera is active), and is working properly, (when the window opens after you left clicked the share icon, you should see your image in the window).

If your webcam still isn't appearing in the list, or isn't working properly or at all, then consult the manual that came with your EeePc. Failing that; contact asus' customer support services, your webcam may be faulty or damaged.

this isn't an apple computer but you need more info on your OS. in 7 just type in webcam in the start menu and iunno about xp. should be same for vista

at the top of the screen there is an arrow. Click it. You should see E sharing. click it. E-CAM is the only option. Click that. Begin. If you have any problems look in your owners manual.

you go to the start menu, then you type in "webcam" and then press enter. then a window should come up with the camera.
