Well, if he was abusive I dont know how you would forget. They leave scars on the inside because their words cut like knifes. I would say your best bet is to forgive this weak individual and see them for the cad that they are. They are not going to change for you or anyone else, be thankful that this vermin is out of your life and start over. Slowly but surely introduce yourself back into healthy relationships and surround yourself with positive people. What are you going to do sit around and fret and woe about a person that treated you less then human and worry about what they are doing. Life is too short for that kind of crap. Get yourself together and do something small for yourself everyday to let yourself know that you are WORTH IT!!!!!!!Good luck and please smile. It is IMPOSSIBLE to immediately stop thinking about something which causes you distress 100% IMPOSSIBLE so STOP TRYING. What you should do is realize that behind the thoughts are emotions and so deal with the emotions by accepting that these emotions are ones of anxiety and fear, dread and Horror that stir inside you and that they will calm when you do. what has happened has thrown you into confusion but understand that with acceptance and forgiveness and TIME this WILL pass.
